In our Warrington store, we are always trying to build up our sewing community and help other sewers find other crafty business' to help with their sewing fix! Sometimes this is sending sewers to other fabric shops who have a different speciality or generally sharing our knowledge of the industry! We have created this blog as a go - to reference to help you when you are looking for a service! This blog will be constantly updated- please do let us know if we have missed anything you think we should know about! 


The Fabric Place

The Fabric Place in Liverpool sits on Stafford Street amongst other fabric shops. This store has a range of high quality interior fabrics and wallpapers, perfect for choosing fabrics and wallpapers that pair well together! Their other side has more of a dressmaking focus offering a fab range of fabrics, quite different from ours. 

One Price Fabrics- Liverpool

We must send about 20 people a week to this hidden gem in Liverpool! Based on Stafford Street, this shop holds a huge range of upholstery and furnishing fabrics at the absolute bargain of £4.99 per metre! Their store is arranged by colour to make it easier for you to find what you are looking for and the staff are always happy to help you out too! 

Oak Mount Mill- Burnley

Although a bit of a drive if you are local to Warrington, Oak Mount Mill have a great selection of fabrics and notions and even offer services such as custom curtains or cushions. The ground floor has a range of upholstery and furnishing fabrics whilst upstairs is dedicated to more dressmaking/ costume supplies and haberdashery. There is also an onsite cafe to treat yourself to a coffee and cake before you leave!

Leon’s Fabrics Chorlton

Leon’s is a great place to head to if you want a big choice! They have a huge range of fabrics, usually in a good range of colours too so perfect if you need a particular shade of lining fabric or satin. 


J&P Sewing Machines 

J & P is based in Warrington town centre and is our go - to recommendation for people needing a machine, needles or any of the more technical, machine based bits and bobs. You are always guaranteed a friendly service when you go in too! J & P offer a range of new and second hand machines as well as servicing and repairs. 

Bamber Sewing Machines

Bambers is a Manchester based sewing machine shop that has been running since 1946. This family business supplies machine brands such as Bernina, Juki, Brother, Janome, Bernette and Singer. As well as machines, they offer a huge range of machine parts, tools, accessories and even offer machine servicing (currently only accepting servicing from Bamber purchased machines). 

Alan Sheens

Alan Sheens is a family business based in Winsford, Cheshire. Now run by Jonathan Sheen, this is a great place for machine repairs and servicing. Based at 124 High St, Jonathan has a plethora of knowledge to provide the best service possible. They do not have a website but you can make an appointment by phoning on 01606 593554.


Bells, Buttons and Bows

Based upstairs on Warrington market, this little haberdashery has a range of wools, buttons and notions. 

Black Sheep Wool

Looking for high quality wools? Black Sheep Wools based in Culcheth, Warrington stock a stunning range quality yarns, patterns and tools. The staff here are a delight and are super helpful! 

Technically Brilliant

This contemporary art gallery is housed in the Golden Square Shopping centre and features a range of for artists across the North West and beyond. This gallery works on an open call basis so not only is this a great opportunity to find local artist's work but to possibly showcase your own as well. 

Technically Brilliant do amazing work for the community and work are a non- profit organisation.

Beyond Measure

Beyond Measure is a boutique shop for people interested in all things making, based in Walsden, Todmorden, West Yorkshire. They have a wonderful website for you to shop online as well as being open Fridays and Saturdays for the public to visit. The wide range of stock includes wool fabric scraps, thread and yarn, haberdashery, tools, bias binding, books and much more, including ranges fromTulip, Sajou and Cohana!  As well as their carefully selected range of stock, Beyond Measure offers workshops and social events if you want to really get stuck in!


Sew Creative

Sew Creative offer sewing lessons for both adults and children, separated with a time table that can be viewed on their website. You can book their lessons online and select the type of lesson you think would best suit you! 

Mojo Creative Workshops

Mojo Creative Workshops is based in Lymm, Warrington and offers a range of creative workshops such as sewing for beginners, macrame, gift wrapping and much more! Check their website for current workshops available! 

Sew Confident

Sew Confident have a few venue's in Scotland, however the closest one to us in Warrington is the Chorley branch. They offer a range of courses including beginners sewing, curtains, backpacks, clothing and much more! They also offer lessons for children too! 

Ministry of Craft

Ministry of Craft host an array of different creative courses at various locations in the Manchester area. Anything from dressmaking projects through to making your own plant pot is on offer! The courses have a great reputation and can be booked through their website. 

Hanging By A Thread

Hanging By A Thread is a creative textile studio based in Warrington, offering courses in creative techniques such as lino printing, felting, image transfers and much more! These lessons take place close to Warrington town centre and can vary from day courses to full semesters. 

Heather Fox Jewellery 

Heather Fox Studios is a local business, based in Warrington. The Fox Studios offer workshops available for all abilities, you can either book onto a course, where you will really delve into the art or if you just want to see if it is something for you, taster days are available too! 


Stitch Station

The Stitch Station in Great Sankey, Warrington is a cafe with a twist! This is a creative cafe where you can go along with your craft and sit amongst like minded people whilst you work. They have a lovely range of wools on offer as well as handmade pieces too. Stitch Station have a weekly 'Knit and Natter' group and also offer workshops so you can get totally immersed or pop along for a brew whenever you feel like being around other crafters!
